Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 October 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By registering an organisation or using VakeelMitra ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are registering on behalf of a law firm or chamber, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

2. Who can register

VakeelMitra is intended for use by advocates and law firms. At registration, you provide your Bar Council enrollment details on a self-declared basis; format validity is checked automatically, but registration does not itself constitute verification of your standing with any Bar Council. A separate, optional "Get Verified" flow exists for advocates who want a verified badge on their profile.

3. Your account and responsibilities

  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of client and matter data you enter, and for obtaining any consent needed from your own clients before entering their personal data.
  • You must not use the Service to store or process data you are not lawfully entitled to hold.
  • As between you and VakeelMitra, you remain the Data Fiduciary (under India's DPDP Act, 2023) for your clients' personal data — VakeelMitra processes it on your behalf as described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Subscription plans and billing

VakeelMitra is offered on a tiered subscription basis. Every organisation starts on the Free plan. Upgrading to a paid plan is reviewed and applied by VakeelMitra staff following your request; pricing, features, and limits for each plan are as shown on the public Pricing page at the time of your request, and may change going forward with notice. [Sample — insert actual billing cycle, refund, and cancellation terms before publishing.]

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable Bar Council rule.
  • Attempt to access another organisation's data, bypass access controls, or probe the Service for security vulnerabilities without authorisation.
  • Upload malicious files or content you do not have the right to upload.
  • Use the Service to generate or publish content that violates the Bar Council of India's rules on advertising or solicitation.

6. AI-generated content

Features like AI Assistant, Drafting, Contract Review, Chronology, and Case Preparation use artificial intelligence to produce draft content, summaries, and suggestions. AI-generated output may be incomplete or inaccurate and is not a substitute for your own professional legal judgment. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it or sharing it with a client or court. Where the Service marks content as requiring human review, that flag must not be bypassed or ignored.

7. Client Portal

If you enable the Client Portal for your clients, you are responsible for the accuracy of the case information made visible to them. Client Portal access is read-only; a client cannot modify matter or hearing data through it.

8. Data export and account closure

You may request an export of your organisation's data, and may request closure of your account at any time. Account closure follows a grace period before permanent deletion, during which you may reverse the request; after that period, data is permanently deleted except where retention is required by law or an active Legal Hold.

9. Intellectual property

VakeelMitra and its branding remain the property of VakeelMitra. You retain all rights to the content and data you upload or enter into the Service.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is." [Sample — insert your actual warranty disclaimer and uptime/SLA commitments, if any, before publishing — this needs counsel review.]

11. Limitation of liability

[Sample placeholder — insert your actual limitation-of-liability clause before publishing. This is a material legal and commercial decision that needs counsel review, not a default template.]

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. [Sample — confirm the specific jurisdiction/courts clause with counsel.]

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Contact us

[Sample placeholder — insert VakeelMitra's actual registered business name, address, and a real contact email before publishing.]
